TEPEX® benefits

TEPEX® is a high-performance composite based on a thermoplastic matrix (so called advanced composites). By virtue of the continuous fibres incorporated, this material exhibits exceptionally high strength and rigidity, coupled with an extremely low weight.

Overview of advantages of TEPEX®

Processing and economics

  • The economics of TEPEX® in industrial production processes have been demonstrated
  • The absence of manual processes in the production of TEPEX® materials and in the production of components results in highly consistent quality throughout the entire production process
  • Materials easy to process by insert-moulding, boosting design freedom
  • TEPEX® materials can be welded
  • End products cost less than with conventional phenol and epoxy systems
  • TEPEX® materials are supplied complete with a QS certificate
  • The process is ISO 9001-2008 certified
  • Formed into components in extremely short cycle times (between 15 and 60 s, depending on component thickness)
  • Straightforward to process at relatively low temperatures
  • Materials can be stored at ambient temperatures instead of at -180° C
  • Material reformable after moulding (TPU)

Technical properties

  • Outstanding mechanical properties
  • Wide variety of finishes possible
  • Materials are adapted to the requirements of the applications
  • TEPEX® materials are tougher than thermoset composites, offering much better energy absorption in crash
  • Wide range of reinforcing options available off the shelf
  • The woven fabric is draped rather than applied in pre-cut form to a product being shaped
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Excellent fatigue resistance

Environmental

  • Waste material is recycled in full
  • No use of solvents during processing
